Is a Komodo liveaboard right for you?
A liveaboard is wonderful for the right kind of holiday. It is also a small boat, shared days and real weather. Here is the honest version of who tends to love Moana, and who may prefer a land-based trip.

You will probably love it if you want the water to set the pace
Moana suits people who would rather wake up close to the next activity than commute back and forth from a hotel. You sleep, eat, dive, snorkel, talk, read and watch the islands pass from the same small floating home. There is less packing and more time outside.
That can mean certified divers who want several well-planned days in the water. It can also mean snorkellers, couples with different interests, solo guests, friends or families. You do not need to dive to belong on board. Our aim is to make sure snorkellers have their own proper experience rather than waiting around for divers.
It is a good fit for first-time liveaboard guests
Many guests have never slept on a boat before. That is fine. Moana is small, with a maximum of ten guests, and the days have a clear rhythm without feeling militarily scheduled. The cabins are cosy, comfortable and practical. Most people spend more time in the open deck spaces anyway.
For divers, Komodo can be suitable at many levels. Conditions change, and the crew selects sites and parts of sites for the group and the day. You should be honest about your experience and comfort in current. We will be equally honest about what is sensible.
It works well when your group does not all want the same thing
This is one of the best reasons to choose a mixed diving and snorkelling boat. One person may be excited for the early dive, another may prefer snorkeling, a beach, a sunset hill walk or a slower morning with coffee. You still share the meals, the scenery and the stories afterwards.
Night dives are available when they fit the plan, but they are never compulsory. Some of the best evenings are simply a long drink on deck after sunset.
You may prefer a different holiday if you need complete independence
A boat has a rhythm, other guests and limited space. You cannot decide at 4pm to find a new restaurant or leave for a different island. Weather can change a plan. If you want a private suite, a different activity every hour or total control of every day, a land-based holiday or a private charter may suit you better.
The question we would ask you
Do you like being outdoors, sharing an experience and letting a good local crew make the right call when conditions change? If yes, you are likely to love it. If you are unsure, tell us who is travelling and how you like to spend a holiday. We would rather help you make the right choice than persuade you into the wrong trip.
